I am thankful today that both of my legs work.
I know this seems as if this is not connected with me. I am 33 and relatively healthy with the exception of the tons of weight I'm trying to lose. However, I am personally thankful for my legs. I am thankful that they work.
So, let me tell you a story. A 29 year old woman turns over in the middle of the night and does the final hurt to her back. It is a bulging disk. Rats. After a couple of days in bed and some attempts to make it work with the WONDERFUL Chiropractor (John Baines in Searcy), the woman and her husband trek to get an MRI. It was bad, and an emergency trip to the neurologist meant surgery that same day. The woman had endured about 2 weeks of dragging the left foot around and not being able to use it well. At 29 it is unusual to have to move your leg with your hip, but she did it.
1 week later there was a repeat surgery for the same reasons. Life continues
1 year and 2 months later, a new injury occurred after problems with a boy not adopted. This time it was the right leg. It affected independence and driving ability. Some of the nerve damage continued until...well, it remains.
3 years later, there is nerve damage and the now 33 year old woman sometimes turns her ankle and doesn't know it until a fall is en route. The woman turns her ankle in a public place and strains a nerve in the right leg. Now she must cross her legs using her arm strength and more damage is present. But now, Praise the Lord, after only 4 weeks, she can walk up stairs, slowly. Both legs work.
Both of MY legs work! I am thankful for that. Life happens. If ever I can't walk forever, it is cheap, strappy sandals for me! Praise the Lord with me, please!
I hope no one thinks I say all that to complain. My life is great and good and God is WORKING His grace!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you are better. I can only imagine the pain and frustration. But, most importantly, the elation at being able to move and walk (somewhat normally) again! God is working in your life everyday and I am thankful to be blessed through your words.--AJ
