Flooding in Hollis

The street we live on has been long known as a river as it is named after the river that once ran there. Today, there was a ton of rain that came pretty fast. This is the most we've seen since moving in this house.

 

The first picture is from the school parking lot. I walked home from here because I didn't know if I could drive through safely.

Here is the road between the school buildings.

Here's our front yard. You can see the water had even gone down some. It was over a foot deep near the curb. Of course, I had to do a little wading! The water was much colder than I thought it would be!

I guess I could have driven through the water! Our street is curved and was much shallower in the middle.

We are thankful to know that though we live on the street of Eula River, our house is safe and likely won't be floating away. It will be a nice place for splashing with a son or daughter some day!
