Betrayal

Luke 22:59-62 NCV
"About an hour later, another man insisted, “Certainly this man was with him, because he is from Galilee, too.”
But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about!”
At once, while Peter was still speaking, a rooster crowed. Then the Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. And Peter remembered what the Lord had said: “Before the rooster crows this day, you will say three times that you don’t know me.” Then Peter went outside and cried painfully."

I have long said I thought the pain of the betrayal by his followers would have been as bad or worse than his physical pain. I just cannot imagine how hurt Jesus would have been by this. Can you imagine?

I was whipped and you turned away
I was broken for you and you couldn't even support me in my time of need
I came to save you, help you, protect you, and you let the leaders of the day poison you against me.
I healed you, your children, your friends yet you yelled loudly for my death.
I continue to reach out to you yet in your pain, you push me away

On my worst day in the middle of my worst hurt in the middle of my most deep feelings of fear, abandonment, shame, hurt, The Healer is there with me. The Counselor GETS it! The One Who Sees can see me, even when I feel the smallest, the most insignificant.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
