My parenting style is difficult to classify. Perhaps the ingredients of the crazy stew that makes up my parenting would be as follows:
-2 parts country girl
-1 part psychology degree
-3 parts over-thinker
-2 parts marriage and family therapy graduate degree
-1 part feeler
-20 parts really tired (hopefully a slight exaggeration)
In many ways, I have utilized attachment parenting styles. I wanted very much to make sure there was a strong bond between me and our little gift. I think I succeeded with the bond part! Our guy is, in my opinion, securely attached.
The biggest blessing of perspective I have received since becoming a parent allows me to cut other parents MUCH more slack. I had opinions, based on research and good logic, about how things should be to parents the "right" way. I still have opinions based on that same important stuff. However, I now understand why parents sometimes stay on the couch and yell across the room. Or are so glad to have adult conversation, they can tune out the screaming. I am certainly grateful for this perspective.
