My Weekend Adventure...how did this all happen?

At some point in high school, I decided that I wanted to live in town and not really be a country girl any more. I am not sure what changed over that time...perhaps in college I got all the town living I wanted. I guess I shouldn't have chosen Troy if I wanted to be not so very country, eh?!

Many of the things that have changed have been because of me. My family taught Troy about how to process meat. Oh well...

We have 2 dehydrators and they worked non-stop this weekend to dry apples. Around 100. Since my Pampered Chef tool died recently, after 10 good years of work, I did them by hand. NEVER again.

I also put up corn. Some blanched and kerneled and some just vacuum sealed for later. Yum-o!

This one is cute of Mercy. Unless she is hot from being outside, she lays on cushy stuff rather than just on the floor. She just sat hoping for me to give her apple chunks. She wants dried ones and not the fresh. Weird girl.

Saturday night we went to the Back Door Steakhouse. It was a trip to the lumber store that burst forth into a date. My handsome not city man here. It was dark and no flash on the phone.

our first cantaloupe. It was really last week, but we're still eating it!

And this is what I use to cut okra and squash. Yes, it is a pink "cowgirl up" knife. Did I get this for Christmas from the hubs? Yes, I did. "Every girl needs her own knife," says he. So, I carry it all the time. Wow. Yes, he's mine. You can't have him!

All around it was a good weekend. It is always good to have a purpose. I feel kind of connected with the ancients when I have days like this. We have definitely become adults. I am not sure when that happened.
