Ice Storm 2010

It has been quite amazing to see the power of God's creation the past week. Here are some pictures around town of the beautiful chaos after the ice storm. We were personally out of power from Thursday afternoon (1/28) through Saturday night (1/31). It continues to flash off and on because they are testing the grid and trying to get area substations back on track.

Unfortunately, those out in Harmon County may not have power for up to 6 more weeks. It is tough, but there are many working very hard to get them back on. There were about 2000 poles that snapped in the county. That is a LOT to overcome.

This is the Red River crossing north of Childress. There was a truck out driving that later got stuck.

This picture is of a tree on Lincoln street in Hollis. It was beautiful

The above pictures are of trees in the Bruner's yard. They have babied those trees for about 10 years now and were quite sad to see them in this state. It is too early to know what might happen with them long term.

The lovely and talented Ann Bruner

Our most durable of weeds in the ice seemed to survive regardless of how the trees or grass did. It was so interesting how the ice formed to each, individual leaf, stalk, or needle.
